MID TERM REVIEW-PMSIP (28-30th December, 2009)
PMDFC team Amir Nazeer, Iftkhar Rasool, Shehzad Khan Sherwani, Talal Ahmad Khan and Ahsan Mehmood visited World Bank office Islamabad from 28-30th December 2010 for Mid Term Review of PMSIP. The mission members comprised of; Shahanaz Arshad, Raja Rehan Arshad, Zia Aljalaly, Hasan Saquib, Anwar Ali Bhatti, Ayaz Pervaiz and Tahir Akber. The agenda of the mission was;
Overview of PMSIP (Releases & Expenditure)
Review progress verses achievements against ID activities and infrastructure sub-projects.
Discussion on PMSIP - ID assessment report (Performance & process audit of ID activities)

 

Training Workshop regarding Website Development & Launching  (17th December, 2009)

A one day, “Training workshop on TMA Website development & launching” was organized at Management and Professional development Department (MPDD), Lahore on December 17, 2009 for computer Operators of Phase-II partner TMAs. The workshop aimed at providing comprehensive training regarding website development & launching, which is one of the important ID interventions under PMSIP. It comprised of two sessions: website development & launching. The training started with the recitation of the holy Quran. Mr. Shoaib Iftikhar, Manager-ID, PMDFC explained the training agenda and highlighted the importance of TMA websites in the light of PMDFC & TMAs’ responsibilities. Afterwards, first session started and comprehensive training regarding website development was given to the participants by Mr. Mubashar Ahmed - IT Assistant.
In second session, workshop participants launched their websites under the guidance of PMDFC staff. In this regard, seventeen number of TMA websites have been launched.
 

PMSIP Workshop on O & M of Water Supply Systems dated 21 May, 2009

Punjab Municipal Development Fund Company (PMDFC) was established for improving municipal services in Punjab under an agreement with the World Bank (WB). A project titled Punjab Municipal Services Improvement Project (PMSIP) has been under taken by this company. Various sub-projects like water supply, sewerage, fire fighting, solid waste management etc. have been conceived for implementation in partner TMAs after thorough planning process. Presently, sixteen sub-projects are under implementation out of which nine (9) pertain to water supply.    (Full Report....)

CTS TRAINING - WORKSHOP (12th March, 2009)
A one day, “Training workshop on Implementation of Complaint Tracking System under Punjab Municipal Service Improvement Project” was organized at Management and Professional development Department (MPDD), Lahore on 12th March, 2009 for Incharge Complaint Cell & the Officials who will record complaints of year II partner Tehsil Municipal Administrations (TMAs). The workshop aimed at providing hands on training regarding Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to implement Complaint Tracking System (CTS) in TMAs. Manager (Institutional Development), Mr. Shoaib Iftikhar organized this training.
The training was planned in two sessions:
   Presentation
   Group Work
After providing detail orientation regarding SOPs to implement CTS in TMAs, a Group Work was also arranged for the participants to understand the implementation procedures clearly. The participants were also provided PMDFC designed Complaint Registers, a Booklet (comprising the complete detail regarding SOPs to implement CTS in TMAs), Complaint Cell Board and Reporting Formats. The participants showed great interest to implement this PMDFC ID initiative.

 

Training on Financial Management System Software held on February 24 & 25, 2009

A two day training session was held at Management and Professional Development Department, Lahore on 24/02/2009 and 25/02/2009 regarding orientation and effective usage of Financial Management System (FMS). Purpose of this workshop was to provide hands on training to TMA officials and information necessary to run the FMS effectively and efficiently.  In these training sessions participants were invited from Year-1 and Year-2 TMAs. These training sessions were facilitated by Nauman Akhtar, (Manager Finance) and were assisted by Mr. Imran Khan Deputy Manager (IT) and Mr. Mubashar Ahmad (IT Assistant).  Mr. Asim Hafeez from Sydat Hyder Morshed was also present during these training sessions.

During these sessions, it was observed that members of the TMAs in which FMS was installed during Year-1 have shown great progress in terms of understanding the system and have grasped the working of the system very well. It was also encouraging to see that these members were open to discussions and were giving their inputs to make the system better and more effective. Participants from the Year-2 TMAs welcomed the implementation of FMS in their TMAs.

The workshop proved to achieve its objectives, since the participants were motivated to initiate such practices, other than the out dated conventional procedures.

 

Training on Complaint Tracking Software held on August 07, 08 & 09, 2008

One day training on complaint tracking software was held on August 07, 08 & 09, 2008 at Leicester College of Computer Sciences, Lahore for year-I partner TMAs. 16 officials from 16 TMAs attended the training. The course encompassed hands-on training for using complaint tracking software before implementing in the TMAs. The manual complaint tracking system is already implemented in all the year-1 TMAs by PMDFC.

 Shakoor (TMA Chiniot), Mr. Akram Ullah (TMA Chakwal), Mr. Arshad Ghori (TMA Daska), Mr. Raees Akbar (TMA Fatah Jang), Mr. Shahid Yousaf (TMA Jehlum), Muhammad Aslam (TMA Shorkot), Muhammad Anwar, (TMA Ahmed Pur Sial), Muhammad Akhtar (TMA Attock), Mr. Nadeem (TMA Kasur), Mr. Sher Khan (TMA Mailsi), Mr. Sabir Hussain (TMA Pind Dadan Khan), Muhammad Riaz (TMA Toba Tek Singh), Mr. Raza Hussain (TMA Sambrial), Muhammad Hanif (TMA Liaquatpur) and Fawad Ahmed (TMA Hazro). Mr. Luqman Haider, GIS Assistant and Mubashar Ahmed, IT Assistant - PMDFC conducted the training.

 

Director Programmes AIT-Extension Visits PMDFC (November 19, 2007)

Mr. Jonathan Shaw, Director Programmes Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) Extension visited PMDFC on November 19, 2007. Mr. Jonathan held an extensive meeting with Mr. Tariq Mahmood Khan MD-PMDFC, Mr. Sajid Siddique GM-ID and Mr. Hamid Masood Manager-ID. Mr. Jonathan briefed the participants about the scope of activities carried out by AIT-Extension and presented details about prospective training areas for staff members of LG&CDD, PMDFC and partner TMAs. Mr. Sajid Siddique explained the working of PMSIP to Mr. Jonathan whereas Mr. Tariq Mahmood Khan outlined the specific training requirements. The participants agreed to explore all possible areas of collaboration between PMDFC and AIT-Extension.

 

Website Refresher Training for TMAs Held on October 29, 2007
One day refresher course on website updation was held on October 29, 2007 at Leicester College of Computer Sciences, Lahore for partner TMAs. 8 officials from 7 TMAs attended the refresher course. The course encompassed hands-on training for website updation by use of MS Front page and important tools such as Adobe Photoshop and FTP.
Participants of the training were Mr. Alamdar Hussain (TMA Ahmad Pur Sial), Mr. Tanveer Ahmad (TMA Bhalwal), Mr. Shahzad Ahmad (TMA Chiniot), Mr. M. Amir (TMA Fateh Jang), Mr. Akhtar Ali (TMA Lodhran), Mr. M. Awais and Mr. M. Khalid (TMA Mailsi) and Mr. Adnan Kashif (TMA T.T. Singh). Mr. Mubasher Ahmed, I.T. Assistant PMDFC conducted the one day refresher training.

 

Workshop on Road Rating Held on October 26, 2007
ID section of PMDFC organized one day workshop for the sub-engineers of partner TMAs for rating of TMA roads on October 26, 2007. Mr. Sajid Siddique, General Manager (Institutional Development) PMDFC welcomed the participants and Mr. Talal Ahmad, Planning Consultant PMDFC briefed the participants  explained road rating criteria with illustrations.
Road rating is the selected indicator for roads sector in the Performance Management System (PMS) being implemented as an integral capacity building measure under PMSIP. After this training participants were asked to rate the TMA roads on the given criteria by November 16, 2007 so that baseline value for roads sector may be determined for the current financial year. A similar workshop was held for TMA staff in the year 2006 – 07.
23 officials from 13 TMAs attended the workshop.
