Infrastructure component of PMSIP in its broad view
is aimed at:

Improvement of existing
infrastructure of municipal services that are
presently having low/poor service delivery level.
It would be done in partnership with selected
TMAs, once determined that the particular service
carries top priority for the residents of that
urban locality.

Extension of existing services to
newly developed settlements of the town while
maintaining a high level of service delivery.

Provision of infrastructure in the
urban locality where it does not exist at all, and
is a priority of the people.
The
general criteria for project selection are:

Need of the town for such projects
-
Rational Public Demand
-
Integration with other
infrastructure projects
-
Financial capacity of TMA to
contribute 15% counter part share
-
TMAs’ technical capacity to handle
such projects
-
Availability of resources with TMA
like land for various components of these projects
-
Existing Coverage of such service
to the public and expected income after completion
of the projects keeping in view need assessment
-
Political will and acumen
After fulfilling the above mentioned criteria, most
needed and priority projects are selected.
