The town of Bhalwal is a Tehsil Head quarter bearing the same name. It is situated towards north east of Sargodha at a distance of approx.46 kilometers by road and 30 km by rail. The area is well known for wheat, cotton and citrus.

The city had a population of 80508 persons in year 1998 as per censes report with a growth rate of 3.66%. Due to urbanization, with this growth rate, the town is expected to have a present (2006) population of 107,332 persons and will grow to 153,760 persons in year 2,016 and 220,270 in the year 2026.
